      When the early critics of rock & roll wanted to make a case in point for the sheer mindlessness of the lyrics, "Be Bop a Lula" made an easy target. Supposedly based on the Little Lulu comic strip, this rock & roll classic was written by Gene Vincent, a rockabilly singer who fronted one of the hottest bands in the country, the Blue Caps.
