He released his first solo album, Voyage of the Acolyte, in while still with Genesis, and has maintained a steady output since. He is a distinctive and versatile guitarist who also performs classical concerts and has released five classical albums in addition to many rock, progressive, and blues albums.

Jan 01,  · "Voyage of the Acolyte" is considered by many to be a 'lost' Genesis album. I only partly agree with this as I think this album has more of Hackett's stamp on it than Genesis'. From the very beginning, we launch into "Ace of Wands," which is an uptempo piece and goes through a myriad of moods and styles before finally deciding where to end up/5().

Sep 25,  · Steve Hackett Voyage of the Acolyte. So, pair the LPs title, Voyage of the Acolyte to the opening track, titled, Ace of Wands and, frankly, I do not know how anyone could construe this as the “lost” Genesis album, let alone classic Progressive Rock. Granted the record progresses closer to the Progressive Rock sound of the time, but.

Superb!!! Steves first album is definitely one of his very best. Mostly dark, melancholic, and "mystical" moods/motifs, balanced with aggressive, up bright, and even pastoral passages at times; this music is a magnificent example of the great British progressive/symphonic rock movement that emerged in the late 60s and throughly developed during the 70s.
